What do you have to tell the world?

When I think about some of my favorite authors, I try and wonder what compelled them so strongly to begin to speak out to the world. By analyzing the themes of their stories - hell, just by reading their books - we can get a sense of this urgency; but no matter what, we can never be able to feel what they felt when they finally decided to put that pen to paper.

This made me think about my message to the world, and if I had one; more over, if I had to tell the world something right this second - what would it be?

A few things came to mind.

“Open your eyes,” for one.

But I thought this message was just too timely. This is something that I feel now. What will my message to the world be in five years time? Wouldn’t it be ideal to want to tell the world the same thing for the rest of your life?

This I thought - a consistent, unchanging message to the world - that is something to aspire to.

Putting the cart before the horse, I realized I had still yet come up with anything at all.

I thought harder.

Blank, again.

I couldn’t force something like this. So, instead my mind worked itself into its graniose visions.

“What about the Universe?” I thought. “If I had to say something to the Universe, in all its infinite glory, what would it be?”

“You’re beautiful, elegant. Thank you.”

That one was easy.

Then I thought that the cadence of such a statement sounded awfully familiar, like I’ve heard similar cantos throughout the entirety of my life.

And, yes. I had.

You see, that message to the Universe is nothing new. It’s been skewed quite a bit, though. Well, quite a lot actually. I’ll save the details for another day.

For now, I’ll just keep wondering when the people of this world will realize both the gravity of our place amidst the Universe and the gravity of our individual lives, and how they are so remarkably incomparable.
